Miracles (graphic pictures of calf birth)

Miracles

I am always amazed how quickly health can deteriorate or greatly improve.  Yesterday morning my husband Mr. Rueffer had a close call with one of our beef heifers.  He found her in birth distress and brought her into the barn to help deliver the calf.  Things were not looking too well, the calf's tongue was very swollen as well as his nostril area.  Mr. Rueffer worked quickly and pulled the calf.  He looked so distressed we were so worried.  Mr. Rueffer cleaned his face and rubbed him and he perked up.  The first pictures (at bottom) are about 8a.m. and the last are at 4p.m.  It is remarkable how quickly he recovered.  Mr. Rueffer is helping him learn to nurse to ensure he gets colostrum which is vital to life.

Amazing!
His tongue is almost normal after 8 hours.

Mr. Rueffer is happy the calf is on his way to recovery.

90% recovered
